""Musicians: What You Can Learn From Bukowski While In The Music Studio” (VIDEO)

Charles Bukowski has always been an anchor for me. I keep a copy of his poetry on my desk—not because his words are flawless or uplifting, but because they remind me what real storytelling looks like. His work wasn’t about escaping into fantasy or striving for perfection. Bukowski wrote about the life he lived: unpolished, raw, and unapologetically human.

He was an alcoholic who punched the clock at the post office for years, grinding through the mundane. But he still found meaning in the chaos. His poetry and prose weren’t an attempt to gloss over the rough edges. They were about capturing the rough edges exactly as they were. That’s what makes his voice unforgettable. He didn’t try to be larger than life—he just wrote his life as it was.

Bukowski understood that life, with all its messiness, was worth documenting—whether it was beautiful or uncomfortable. He didn’t think he had to be someone 'special' for his voice to matter. He was a truth seeker, a philosopher in his own right, simply because he took the time to question what it means to be human.

At my Chicago recording studio, Untold Stories Recordings, I love to work with artists who share that same vision. You don’t need to come in trying to fit into someone else’s mold. What matters is your willingness to capture your truth, however it looks or sounds. Whether you’re crafting the kind of music that makes people sit up and listen or documenting the moments that shape your story, my music studio is here to amplify your honesty.

If you’re an artist who wants to document your experience of life—someone ready to tell your story with brutal honesty, capturing the raw truth of your journey—then I want to work with you.
